Yankees v Twins, ALDS Game 1 ~ I'll be there!

After looking at Stubhub.com, Craigs list, and eBay, I decided to say, "to hell with it all" and hit the streets.  When did the going price for a good ticket hit $300?  Actually from experiences haggling with scalpers and researching websites for YEARS, the answer to that question is maybe 5 years ago...

At lunch today, I decided to go out and look for scalper.  I was curious if I'd run into any Yankees or Twins grabbing food.  It's not a secret boys and girls...  Those men need to eat lunch, too...  Well on my path towards Target Field, I decided to go right to the ballpark to check out the scene.  As usual, I was at the right place at the right time!

Guess who just scored her ticket to the Yankees v Twins, American League Division Series (ALDS), Game 1!?!?!! Yep, this girl!  I cannot wait for the game to start...  Looking forward to watching CC Sabathia take on Francisco Liriano.  Great.  Now I have that little girl song in my head...

"CC, my playmate, come out and play with me."

Actually, when ever I think of Sabathia I always remember his days with the Cleveland Indians.  In 2002, when he was robbed at gunpoint, while trying to leave the Marriott Key Center.  Here's an article that provides more details for those of you that never knew.  For those of you that would rather copy and paste the URL into a new window, here you go: http://www.woio.com/Global/story.asp?S=793891.  It's scary stuff!  According to the article, "Sabathia was robbed of $44,102 in cash and jewelry, including a necklace and earrings."  I'm sure his fans are happy that no one got hurt.  It's great to see CC successful.  By the way, did you know that 52 is one of my lucky numbers?

As for me tonight, my only "concern" is what I'm going to eat on the Target Field concourse...  Do I stick with Murray's steak sandwich or try something else? :-P

NBA and NHL Playoffs ~ Go Cavs, Win Game 1! Go Caps ~ Win Game 2!

I am watching the Cleveland Cavs whip up on the Chicago Bulls on TV, and trying to resist the urge to take a nap this gorgeous Saturday afternoon.  Somewhere admidst my boredom, I started to think about my plans for tonight and remembered that Game 2 of the Washington Capitals v Montreal Canadiens series is tonight at 7 at the Verizon Center.  The Caps dropped game 1 in overtime, so tonight's match-up is expected to be a good one.  Soooooo, began the hunt for the perfect ticket.

After looking at Ticketmaster and striking out, I went to my favorite ticket broker site.  I wanted to see where those sharks priced the tickets in their inventory, since they're usually the highest once you add fees, etc.  Then I went to Craigs list to see where those folks had priced tickets, but they didn't have a lot of inventory available and the idea of meeting a complete freak, who knew I was carrying cash, this afternoon wasn't appealing.  Ebay is always fun to look at, but there was one guy out in Springfield who wanted a price, that I could get outside the arena tonight ~ so a trip to Springfield was out of the question.  My last and final stop was the Capitals Ticket Exchange, where season ticket holders list their "extras", and I found a ticket listed for a more than reasonable price.

I have a friend who's a Habs fan, and as soon as the game went into overtime we bet about the outcome of Game 1.  The loser owed the winner a trip to Vegas.  Unfortunately the Caps and I lost.  Fortunately, my friend couldn't accept the bet and offered me the trip to Vegas anyway!  Woohoo ~ I won after all!!!  Told you I was lucky.  We'll see if the trip actually pans out, but regardless at least I'm off the hook without having to weasel my way out (i.e. I'll never explicitly renege on a bet).

Anyway, I'm all set for tonight's hockey game, so I'll see you at the phone booth.  Oh ~ and I'll be sporting my "new"  Ovechkin jersey.  This is going to be a good one!

By the way, if I had to guess about the scalper prices to night, here's what I think.  A pair of lowers will run about $250/$300 and you'll be able to score a pair of uppers for $150/$200.  Those are just my guesses, based on what I've seen.  It is the playoffs after all.  ****  As a rule, I'd never agree to paly a price that's not a multiple of $20.  Why?  Everyone knows that ATMs don't give out $10s, so it's pointless.  Therefore, why stress about finding $10, when the scalper may even be pressed to give you change?  Do everything in increments of $20.

Let's go Caps!!!

Ugh - in the amount of time it took me to type this, the Bulls have cut the Cavs lead to 7 points.  Time to re-focus my energy towards Cleveland.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm not scared, but seriously...

So, you want a ticket for the Big East semifinals...

I'm in NYC and settling in.  For kicks, I'm trolling craigslist.com for a ticket for tonight.  I saw a listing for a lower level ticket.  I sent the guy an email with an offer of $100.  I kid you not ~ the man called me in less than 2 minutes.  Turns out that I had read his post too quickly, and he was selling his ticket for tomorrow's game.  Oh well.  He did tell me that he had a ticket for tonight, but ended up selling it for $80.  Good to know, that at $100, I would've overpaid....

Tonight's going to be a good night!!!

(22) Georgetown and Marquette tip at 7 EST, and
ND and (6) WVU tip at 9 EST...

Oh, here's another listing that made me laugh...  No idea who posted it, but he's a man after my own heart!

Big East - $1

hahahahahahahaha - all you ridiculous scalpers and brokers must be crying in your pocket change today. Pitt, UConn, Cuse, Nova - the 4 biggest crowd draws all gone.

Can someone send me an email for lower level loge seat for $250+ tonight so I can laugh like crazy this morning?

For those of you trying to get tickets for tonight that are unaware of the market.......go to the Garden and get them outside. They are plentiful and cheap. Sub face is achievable and that will get you good seats. I paid $40 last night for a seat in section 120. Face of $55.

But honestly guys, keep trying to buy all the tickets and create a fake market with outrageous prices attached to them.....u will succeed in one thing.....making sure the Garden has about 12K in attendance tonight.

Hahahahahahaha. Clowns

I have no idea where these ticket brokers are living (i.e.  my guess is Fantasy Land) or what drugs they're on, but there's no way they're going to get $350 for a lower level ticket.  Rainy day in NYC, so I'm hoping the scalpers want to get out of the rain. I'm rocking a pony-tail so rain isn't going to hurt me... I have nothing but time to negotiate... Wish me luck ~ I have to head to The Garden "soon" :-P

I predict Georgetown wins the Big East Tourney tomorrow.
