Injured Boston Red Sox Mickey Mouse ~ 2010 MLB All-Star Game

Poor Mickey!  He was beat up, but he's still smiling...

The 2010 MLB All-Star Game Mickeys are in Anaheim to help celebrate the All-Star festivities.  Poor Boston Red Sox Mickey was vandalized!  It was housed in front of the Discovery Science Center.

Here is a picture of the injured Mickey Mouse (i.e. complete with cast and ice pack).  Poor guy!  ****  Photo courtesy of a reader of TheWirk.com.

If you're a Red Sox fan and a Disney fan, you can own a healthier version of the figurine.

2010 MLB All-Star, Boston Red Sox Mickey Mouse vandalized

I completed the 2010 MLB All-Star Game Mickey Mouse Scavenger hunt (i.e. in Southern California) and it's been brought to my attention that the Boston Red Sox Mickey Mouse has been vandalized.

According to the following MSNBC article, the Boston Red Sox Mickey Mouse has been sent back to Disney for repair.  The statue was vandalized on Friday and removed on Monday.

Come on, people.  It's a statue and it was in front of the Discovery Science Center.  If you don't like the Red Sox or any other team's statue, can't you just walk away from it?  Let the kids enjoy it.

2010 MLB All-Star Game Mickey Mouse Scavenger Hunt Completed

It took about 3 days and 30+ hours, but I did it!  I found all the 2010 MLB All-Star Mickey Mouse statues in Southern California.  There are 36 total.  The list of statues that you find on-line and Hertz Never Lost is NOT enough to get you to all the correct locations.  You're going to need Google Maps also.  For those of you that don't know (i.e. I didn't), the Disneyland Esplanade is a fancy way of saying the entrance to the Disneyland parks.  You don't need a ticket to get in, but you will need to get your bag checked if you want to walk through the entrance to get to the other entrance side (i.e. unless you want to go around, but I have no idea how/why you'd do that).  For that location you can park in the 15 minute parking area, so you don't have to pay.

I made 35 friends, since I had to ask people to take the pics of me (i.e. except at the Newport Sports Museum, where there was no one to be found on a Sunday afternoon).

I walked deep into the Orange County Park/Zoo area at night to get to the Chicago Cubs Mickey, since the office was closed.  I don't recommend doing that though, because the walk is a little scary when it's dark.

I found a friendly mall cop in Orange, who let me into the mall after hours to take a picture.

I nearly killed myself in Anaheim, when the Hertz Never Lost told me to make a left, and I did - but it was a green light and not a green arrow.  The Anaheim Police Officer, saw that I was sorry, and he let me go after he ran my license.

For the LA locations if you're smart, just pull into the valet of the hotels and tell them what you're there to do, and they probably won't make you pay for parking (i.e. I didn't have to).

If you have any specific questions about where the Mickeys are, comment me and I'll help you out.

Doing this hunt was a fun experience and I was able to see a lot of Southern California.

Day 1:
Rancho Cucamonga
Newport Beach
Laguna Beach
Irvine
Tustin
Santa Ana
Costa Mesa
Huntington Beach <-- I couldn't find this on my Hertz map, so I lost time going back to it.
Long Beach
Garden Grove
Orange

Day 2:
Hollywood
Los Angeles
Santa Monica

****  While in Hollywood, I got caught up in a Top Chef Tour Live taping and had the chance to see Eli Kirshtein and Hosea Rosenberg in action.  It's no secret I like tall, bald guys ~ but microwave sponge cake...  Who knew?!?!

Also, in Hollywood, I've decided that I'm ready for my star on the Walk of Fame, and evidently so is Hollywood!  I was driving back from New Jersey a couple of weekends ago and my Iphone started playing Phil Collins.  I heard "Groovy Kind of Love" and "Sussudio", and almost hurled my phone out of the window.  Just saying...

I used to be a fan, I guess...

This should read, "The Wirk"

Day 3:
Anaheim

HAVE FUN!!!

The Milwaukee Brewers defeat the Los Angeles Angels, Angels Stadium (i.e. my 71st venue)

While in LA, I was fortunate enough to hit another new venue with Scott, when we watched the Milwaukee Brewers visit the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim.  Angel Stadium is venue 71 for me and I was excited to see where the 2010 MLB All-Star Game is going to be held this year.

Unfortunately for the Angels, the Brewers were on fire!  Unfortunately for Torii Hunter, Casey McGehee hit a home run off the glove of Hunter in center field.  Think Jerry McGuire, but it wasn't off of Hunter's head.

Ryan Braun hit his third career grand slam and finished with five RBIs for the Brewers.

Lucky for me, I was able to get Scott to stop working long enough to come out with me, since it was a gorgeous day for a baseball game.  Angel Stadium is a very open stadium and with weather so beautiful, I can only imagine how great the fan experience will be for the All-Star festivities in July.

As for Monday, the Brewers brought their offense and defeated the Angers 12-2.

Enjoy the pictures!

The waterfall reminds me of the ones at mini-golf courses

I like Chuck Finley, even if Tawny Kitaen doesn't

Baseball Mickey Mouse statues to Southern California ~ 2010 MLB All-Star Game

I got bored watching game 2 of the Phoenix Suns v Los Angeles Lakers series and started looking for panda hats.  Yes, my mind works in myterious ways...  Panda hats.  Why?  Because, I saw them when I was in San Francisco at the Giants game and I thought they were cute, so I wanted to see if I could snag one on-line.  As I clicked various links to get to the SF Giants on-line store, I noticed that there was a 2010 All-Star Game Mickey Mouse figurine being sold to commemorate the 2010 MLB All-Star game (i.e. held at Angels Stadium this year).

I did some more digging and came across the following article, written on April 19, 2010:  http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?content_id=9417216&fext=.jsp&ymd=20100419&vkey=allstar2010

**** For those of you that will never click the link, let me summarize.  According to the article, "Major League Baseball Properties and Disney Consumer Products unveiled on Monday 36 designs of MLB-themed Mickey Mouse collectible statuettes and related apparel and merchandise in celebration of the 2010 MLB All-Star Week festivities taking place July 9-13 in Anaheim as part of a new collaboration between the organizations. "

The 36 Mickey Mouse statues will be decorated using the same logos and designs as the MLB statuettes (i.e. in the baseball team logos). The MLB Mickey Mouse statues are 7 1/2 feet and weigh 989 pounds.   The Mickeys will begin to appear at landmarks throughout Southern California as the All-Star Game nears (i.e. the game is on July 13), but the exact locations have yet to be released.  Trusr me, I've looked...  I still can't find the information, but I sure as hell intend to find these statues!

If you ask me, both MLB and Disney hit homeruns!  Mickey Mouse and baseball ~ I might be dreaming!  Don't you dare pinch me...
