Ohio State makes it look easy, as they advance to the Sweet 16 ~ 2011 NCAA Tournament

The Ohio State University is in Columbus, OH but for all intents and purposes, it might as well have been in Cleveland for the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the NCAA Tournament.  Ohio State has been a dominant force in the tournament and during the season.  Ohio State has been so successful that there really isn't anything to say about them during March Madness except to say that they're GOOD.

George Mason University can attest to the Buckeye's strength, since Mason's road to an NCAA Championship ended on Sunday with a loss.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the game.  I meant to shoot video of the Quicken Loans Arena crowd doing the O-H-I-O cheer, but you can picture a sea of red shirts raising their arms and yelling out the letters, just as easy!

At the end of the 1st half, the Ohio State led George Mason by a score of 52-26.  The final score was 98-66.  ****  The man I was sitting next to, told me that Mason was without its best player, since he had succumbed to the flu.  Wow.  Tough break.

David Lighty was perfect behind the 3-point line (i.e. an impressive 7 for 7) for the Buckeyes and scored 25 points.  Jared Sullinger and William Buford both dropped 18 points for the win.  Ohio State is scorching and playing complete games.  I like what I saw...  Further, with all the strange upsets, maybe my bracket isn't so busted after all.

I need to work on tickets in Newark at the Prudential Center.  The East bracket is HOT...   Let the March Madness continue!

Congratulations Terrelle Pryor and Buckeyes for winning the Sugar Bowl ~ Tattoos for everyone!

I'm from Ohio, and I root for the Ohio State Buckeyes. I'm not die-hard. I root for them during the season, but I don't watch the games. I cheer for them in bowl games, and I watched this year's Sugar Bowl tonight. Arkansas tried to make the game interesting, and the Razorbacks had a chance until they turned the ball over towards the end of the 4th Quarter.

By the way, is it just me or did they review a lot of plays during the game? Seemed like every time I looked at the TV there was a play under review. Anyway, I digress...

The (6) Buckeyes prevailed over the (8) Razorbacks, with a final score of 31-26.

I'm not big into college football, so I really have nothing to say except the following message I just tweeted, "if i was terrelle pryor i wouldn't be talking about pain in my foot right now, especially with my future in the balance... no pain, dude..."

With a 5 game suspension beginning the 2011 season and (i.e. from what I know) no decision yet, as to whether he's returning to The Ohio State University next season, if I were him I wouldn't end this game with any discussion about "injury".

With that being said (i.e. and the Big Ten Buckeyes finally beating an SEC team in a bowl game ), I'm getting a Ohio State Buckeyes tattoo tomorrow! **** JUST KIDDING!!! I'm NOT getting a tattoo. It's a joke, people.

Buckeyes finished the season with a record of 12-1. **** Yes, I know. They lost to Wisconsin.

I saw Katie Smith (WNBA player and Ohio State Alumnus) the other day

Yesterday I was running around the Newseum and I saw Katie Smith.  I didn't recognize her, but my friend did.  Being from Ohio, I remember watching her in college at The Ohio State University.  I remember her outside shooting.  I have no recollection of her making a lay-up, because when I saw her on TV, she was always launching 3s.  Katie Smith led Ohio State to a Big Ten championship and the NCAA title game as a freshman,  According to her Wikipedia page, she also broke the Big Ten scoring record for points scored in a career, in men's or women's basketball.  Katie Smith is the the first female Buckeye athlete to have her number retired.



I don't follow the WNBA, but I went to a few Cleveland Rockers games.  Being in Cleveland during the NBA off-season, my ex-fiance would be asked to come out and show support for the Rockers so we'd go to a few games.  I remember that there weren't that many fans in the building, but the fans that were there were LOUD. 

Back to Katie Smith...  According to her Wikipedia page, in 2005, she became the first American female basketball player to score 5,000 total points in a professional career. She is 3rd on the list of all time leaders in scoring in the WNBA behind Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson, however, she is the all time leading scorer in women's professional basketball with her ABL points included.  Needless to say, Katie Smith is accomplished.

I thought about going over and saying something to her, but it's all pretty random how I remember her college career and to be honest, I never followed her professionally.  She was with a couple of her teammates, and I didn't want to bother her.  Maybe one day I'll run over to the Verizon Center and catch a Mystics Game and see her play (i.e. on March 16, 2010, Katie Smith signed a contract with the Washington Mystics as a free agent).
